Companies work together to revamp hospital entrance lobby

Pinnacle and Karndean have worked together to lay new flooring at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The hospital was founded in 1862 and now offers the widest range of child health services for young patients in the West Midlands and beyond.

With over 257,000 patients a year, 360 beds, and 3,500 staff, the hospital is inundated with visitors and therefore required a much-needed refurbishment to its main entrance lobby and cafe in order to maintain such standards.

Pinnacle was the chosen flooring contractor, working with supplier, Karndean, as part of its 40th birthday celebrations to supply and fit the flooring. Both companies worked with ARDEX and donated their services and products for free to support the hospital and its patients.

Chris Jennings, director at Pinnacle, said: “Due to the outstanding work carried out by the hospital, we were keen to deliver excellent products and services. Karndean was able to supply the flooring and Pinnacle could fit it. However, we were in need of a levelling compound to complete the project in the short timeframe given.”

“ARDEX was the perfect choice as we have come to know their products well and expect nothing less than excellence.”

The product used for the project was ARDITEX NA, a latex levelling and smoothing compound that covers virtually any subfloor without the need for extensive preparation and priming, saving time and money.

Ricky McNamara, ARDEX area sales manager, said: “After visiting the site, it was clear that the product needed to be versatile, rapid setting, and be able to cover problem areas on the floor, in order to obtain minimal disruption to the hospital and its patients. ARDITEX NA was the perfect option as it fit this criteria and offered peace of mind for the client.”
