Trust selects patient management solution to transform community and mental health care delivery

Advanced Health & Care has won a significant contract with Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust to provide Carenotes, a next-generation electronic patient management solution with integrated mobile functionality.

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of mental health and substance misuse support services to people living within the London boroughs of Camden and Islington with a combined population of 420,000. It treats 97% of people in the community which reduces the need for hospital admissions.

Further to a formal tendering process, using the Clinical Information Systems (CIS) Consortium, which member trusts are using to procure their next EPR solution, the trust selected Advanced over several other approved suppliers. Advanced was chosen for best value in addition to alignment of critical success factors and priorities outlined by the trust.

The Carenotes solution has been procured in line with the trust’s vision to eventually achieve an integrated and interoperable EPR solution across all clinical and social care pathways.

It is the vision of the trust to allow clinical staff to gain access to patients’ records at the point of care through an agile working programme, enabling them to securely obtain and view clinical patient information.

Jim Chase, managing director of Advanced Health & Care, said: “This significant contract reinforces Advanced as the leading provider in the out-of-hospital and health and social care space. We have now secured preferred or contracted status with a wide range of leading NHS trusts and ‘not for profit’ providers to further underpin our impressive growth.

“Working in close partnership, we are looking forward to playing an instrumental role in assisting Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust to improve efficiency and the quality of care it is able to provide patients and their families”.

David Jackland, associate director of ICT at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, added: “With the Carenotes solution we are looking forward to helping our clinicians from all specialties and disciplines share information more effectively. Our staff will be able to work better together with the shared goal of improving the health outcomes of our patients.

“We are just at the start of an exciting journey with Advanced. Working in partnership enables us to take significant steps towards becoming a paper-light organisation and fulfil the trust’s longer-term ambition.”
