Bids sought for two hospital redevelopment contracts

Contracts worth more an £75m include construction of new community hospital


Contactors are being invited to bid for two hospital development projects worth more than £75m.

Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking applications to tender for the redevelopment of Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

The £5m project at The Derwent Centre will see the construction of a new shell and a 1,325sq m core extension, with fit-out of all three floors. The scheme also includes the refurbishment of several wards, including the installation of new boiler system.

Works are due to commence in September.

Also being put out to tender is the £70m New Cramlington Hospital project. The contract with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust includes the construction of a new specialist emergency care hospital with rooftop helipad.

Work is expected to start on site on 18 July.
