Travis Perkins Managed Services donates playground equipment to children’s cancer ward at Welsh hospital

Managed Services, part of Travis Perkins, has donated £3,000 towards new playground equipment for the children’s oncology ward at Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor.

The donation was arranged by Managed Services’ Gynnedd store in conjunction with Gafael Llaw, a charity that supports children fighting cancer. It will also be used to repair existing equipment and reduce trip hazards in the playground, which has been condemned for the past two years, as well as supporting the refurbishment of the Dewi Ward.

Gafael Llaw is made up of people from the Caernarfon area and raises money to support the Dewi Ward, along with the Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool and the children’s cancer charity, Clic Sargent. Previously, Gafael Llaw completed a ‘Tour de Cymru’, which Managed Services supported with a £5,000 donation. The team cycled around Wales and raised £85,000 in total.

Andrew Craig, project manager at Managed Services and also a committee member of Gafael Llaw, said: “I’m really grateful to Managed Services for supporting Gafael Llaw and Gwynedd Hospital by making this donation. It is great to be able to provide something for children to enjoy during their visits to the ward, as well as supporting refurbishment of the ward itself.”

Stuart Hough, managing director of Managed Services, said:“We are always keen to support local projects so it has been great to work with one of our very own team members in conjunction with the Gafael Llaw charity. The playground is now ready for children to enjoy and we look forward to collaborating with Gafael Llaw again in the future.”
