Brick and block contractor chosen for Poole mental health scheme

G P Masonry to work on £7.5m scheme


G P Masonry has been appointed as the brick and block sub contractor for the £7.5m redevelopment of a mental health inpatient unit at St Ann’s Hospital in Poole.

Being developed by Integrated Health Project (IHP), a joint venture between VINCI Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine, the company has been appointed as part of a ProCure 21+ National Framework Agreement.

Preliminary works started on site in June and the main works began last month. Work is due to be completed by February 2014.

The work involves the demolition of the existing 1970s building and part of the 1980s facility and the construction of a two-storey facility consisting of a 16-bed ward and a 14-bed ward,to include assessment, treatment and support rooms. A new entrance will also be constructed, as well as landscaping and redevelopment of the existing car parks.
