A stained-glass window featuring the rising sun, a river framed by trees and a perching kingfisher is helping to bring the outside inside at a cancer unit on Guernsey.
Funded by the Northern Trust in memory of a former vice president, Tony Morvan, the design by Guernsey Glasscraft has been installed in the Bulstrode Oncology Unit at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
It aims to make the treatment and information rooms brighter and less clinical, and can be seen from inside and out, helping to bring the outside natural world into the hospital environment.
Karen Leach, lead nurse for cancer and palliative care, said: “We are grateful to Northern Trust for funding the beautiful window. Our patients can be in the department for up to six hours, so we are always looking for new ways to improve and enhance the environment.”
