Comedian and presenter, Bob Mills, best known for hosting In Bed With Medinner in the 1990s, and now a weekday presenter on radio station, Talksport, has been named as the celebrity host of this year’s Building Better Healthcare Awards.

A mainstay of the 90s stand-up comedy scene, Mills also hosted daytime quiz show Win, Lose or Draw, and SKY’s video games programme, Games World.

He will be fronting this year’s awards ceremony, which will be held at The Brewery in central London on 30 October.

In Bed With Medinner was a late-night cult ITV show where Mills specialised in presenting a cynical view of life and everyday objects.

Over the next 10 years, he established himself as one of the most-successful live comedy acts in the UK, as well as putting together a string of acclaimed television credits including Dial Midnight ; Not A Lot Of People Know That; and documentaries with pop icons such as Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, and Cher.

In 1995, he starred in what he still considers to be his finest work to date, Channel 4′s The Show; eight one-hour programmes featuring fly-on-the-wall film of the making of a real chat show.

He also co-wrote and produced Stan The Man, which starred John Thomson and Gaynor Faye; the six-part comedy-drama, Northern Lights starring Mark Benton and Robson Green; an episode of Shameless; and the feature-length film Pierrepoint fronted by Timothy Spall.

His radio work included his own weekday programme on Greater London Radio during the 1990s and, in addition to currently presenting on Talksport, he is also a regular pundit on BBC Radio Five Live's Fighting Talk.
