Midlands-based charity, Compton Care, has appointed BAM construction to deliver its £2.5m care co-ordination centre – a facility set to revolutionise care provision for people with long-term, complex and incurable conditions.
The centre is a key part of Compton's new clinical strategy, launched recently alongside a new identity that saw it drop 'hospice' from its name in order to challenge perceptions and break down barriers to palliative care.
Funded mostly through a donation from former members of the Unite Union Goodyear Wolverhampton branch, it will enable the charity to effectively co-ordinate its services from one central point in order to create a more-responsive service for people living with complex and incurable conditions.
BAM was selected as the successful company from a series of applications submitted through the ProCure22 (P22) – a construction procurement framework for the public sector.
Construction work is expected to begin on site later this month.
The centre will house a range of services including care in the home, inpatient care, daycare facilities, and emotional, spiritual and social care support.
