Conference will throw spotlight on dementia design best practice
Exploring the impact of design on sufferers\' experience of hospital and social care environments
Use of the arts, therapeutic virtual environments and hospital and care home design best practice will be among the topics of conversation at a conference on dementia to be held next month.
The Dementia Design Conference and Networking event has been organised by the University of Salford’s School of the Built Environment and School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.
It will explore current and future developments and how design is making a positive difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
Highlights will include the a keynote address by the Right Honourable Hazel Blears MP, vice chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia, and presentations and workshops delivered by experts from the King’s Fund’s Enhancing the Healing Environment programme and health and social care professionals who work with sufferers.
Sessions will explore everything from building and interior design of both clinical and social care environments to the impact of assistive technology and the impact on carers.
The event will be held on 14 September at the Mary Seacole Building in Salford.
