State-of-the-art building includes a GP training centre

Assura Group, in partnership with LSP Developments, has completed delivery of a new primary care centre in Gelligaer, south Wales.

The 9,321sq ft facility, which is split across two floors, will replace the existing Gelligaer Surgery and expands the practice to accommodate a GP training centre and 270sq ft of space for additional growth.

Andrew Darke, managing director of property at Assura Group, said: “The new surgery facilities will boost the medical offering to patients in the local area and provides a long-awaited home for the GPs at Gelligaer.”

Dr John Holland, lead GP at the surgery, added: “Our team is delighted with the new facilities, which are a significant improvement on our old surgery. With the room to expand we can continue to build and develop our current service to the local community, as well as training new GPs in a modern and pleasant environment.”

The architect on the scheme was healthcare specialist, West Hart Partnership, while the contractor was OpCo.
