45-bed unit planned for Maghull, Merseyside

Pozzoni Architects has lodged a planning application for a 45-bed dementia care facility on the Parkhaven Trust Estate in Maghull, Merseyside.

Sefton Council has already given outline planning permission for the development, but the latest application increases the site boundary to the west.

If approved, it will provide beds for people with dementia, as well as 15 beds for people with high dependency needs.

The scheme involves the demolition of a former office building and nursery.

In a report to the council a Pozzoni spokesman said: “The building will provide a much-needed facility for people living with more-advanced dementia needs in Maghull and the surrounding area.

“We believe this will be a high-quality care facility, which makes effective use of the land and opportunities available.

“The location and design of the scheme will ensure that the development is accessible to all, and encourages a higher standard of living for all future residents.”

It adds: “This proposed design responds to Parkhaven Trust’s brief to enable them to provide a fit-for-purpose dementia specific care home.”
