Government publishes health and social care procurement plans for contracts over £5m

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has unveiled multi-million pound plans to invest in health services over the next 18 months.

It recently released the Commercial Procurement Pipeline for the department, a forecast of potential commercial activity over the next 18 months where spend is over £5m.

While not covering investment in the NHS Test and Trace system or the PPE Cell; the pipeline aims to provide information to potential suppliers to raise awareness of commercial opportunities that may be available and how the Government is planning to procure those opportunities.

Among the planned investments are:

  • £7m to deliver media planning, creative development and production of campaigns across the health sector
  • £20m for the creation of a hand-held solution for connection to the Emergency Services Network for use by frontline ambulance staff
  • £15m for the supply of medical Nitric Oxide gas, rental of cylinders and delivery of equipment, maintenance and consumables
  • £14.2m for the provision of records management services for the departmental records office
  • £5.m for National Institute of Health Research information systems to promote active public participation in public health and social care research
