Harris Healthcare Solutions has named Dr Jenny Dean as its new medical director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

“Dr Dean’s ability to draw on her broad knowledge and experience accumulated through years of clinical practice, an MBA with entrepreneurial focus, healthcare management consulting and networking will be a huge asset for Harris Healthcare,” said Helen Parslow, director, marketing and business development manager for Harris Healthcare Solutions EMEA.

“Dr Dean has a passion for making a positive impact in healthcare through forging partnerships and project management leadership and we look forward to her input in ensuring our customers receive the most-advanced systems that meet their clinical and business needs.”

Harris Healthcare offers a full range of inter-operability solutions, including IT infrastructure and management, clinical workflow and analytics, health information exchange, and provider and patient portals. The solutions aim to improve healthcare quality, efficiency and outcomes by ensuring the right information travels, with security and privacy, to the right person, at the right time, on the right device, at the point of care.

Dr Dean will be responsible for providing clinical input, from product management and road mapping to ensuring the solutions offered meet the changing needs of the market.

She brings more than 16 years experience in healthcare including clinical practice where she specialised in anaesthetics with experience in accident and emergency, general medicine, aeromedical and hyperbaric medicine, as well as working as a service improvement manager for South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

“Harris Healthcare provides innovative solutions focused on ensuring both business and clinical benefits, which aligns perfectly with my NHS and commercial background,” Dean said. “I look forward to engaging with Harris’s prospective and existing users to better understand their challenges, and working with them to help successfully manage healthcare services fit for the needs of their population within the financial constraints in the current climate.”

Dean joins Harris from KPMG, where she worked as an engagement manager for a number of clinical operational and governance reviews for groups of care homes, private clinics and NHS services. She was also clinical lead in a major care system redesign for a financially-challenged NHS health economy. In addition, she developed a knowledge base of best practice guidance and innovative examples for benchmarking and facilitation in options development for clients.

Prior to this she was the executive director of the Cambridge Centre for Health Leadership & Enterprise that she established at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School. There she developed and directed the Cambridge Chief Residents Management and Leadership Development programme. She has also worked as a clinical design consultant for electronic health records for NHS Connecting for Health’s National Programme for IT.

Vishal Agrawal, managing director and president of Harris Healthcare Solutions, said: "Healthcare and the way it is delivered globally is evolving at a rapid pace. Dr Dean's medical expertise and detailed knowledge of the UK healthcare system will be a significant asset to Harris Healthcare in ensuring our customers, both providers and the patients entrusted to their care, benefit from the very best healthcare collaboration solutions available."
