Essentia appoints director to build IT consultancy offering

Tas Hind takes on technology director role in new IT practice

Essentia Trading has appointed Tas Hind to the role of technology director to develop and lead a new IT practice.

A 60-strong consultancy, Essentia offers expertise to healthcare, science, public and private organisations on areas such as strategic estates development, capital development, healthcare planning, and property management.

Hind is a highly-experienced information management and technology (IM&T) and transformation consultant in healthcare.

With 20 years experience at senior management level, she has been instrumental to the delivery of major clinical, operational and IT transformation programmes across the NHS, in both acute and primary care.

Strengthening its technology capability is an important step in Essentia’s long-term strategy.

Already delivering ground-breaking work in healthcare planning, it will now be able to deliver fully-integrated health and care transformation programmes underpinned by IT.

Its vision is to find ways of challenging the status quo and making a significant difference through the implementation of disruptive technologies.

Hind will be helping clients to define and deliver their digital solutions strategies, supporting them with business case development and developing and optimising their IT solutions.

She will also be responsible for getting the practice off the ground, building a bespoke team, working to identify client and market needs, developing and delivering services and products, and playing a major role in Essentia’s senior leadership team.

She said: “All parts of health and care organisations are under significant pressure to deliver services efficiently without compromising the quality of patient care.

"By integrating technology and healthcare planning, and where possible finding ways of challenging the status quo, we can make a real difference to the way that they operate, make significant savings, while improving efficiency and build a sustainable and secure healthcare system for the future.”

Hind spent over 20 years at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in the UK, rising to consulting practice lead when she had direct responsibility for 30 business process management consultants.

While at CSC, she delivered numerous successful initiatives under the NHS’ National Programme for IT. These included delivering innovative propositions for co-ordinated health and social care, helping trusts prepare their strategy and outline business cases to qualify for Lorenzo Electronic Patient Records (EPRs), and leading the feasibility study for Big Data to help reduce hospital re-admissions and patients’ length of stay.

Her most-recent role has been as an IM&T transformation and strategy consultant with Ideal Healthcare Consultants. There, she was responsible for developing new business and propositions for, among others, Sustainability Transformation Plans (STPs), Global Digital Exemplars (GDEs), Fast Followers, Local Digital Roadmaps (LDRs), and EPRs.
