About the Project:
GPT Waste in partnership with Sodexo Defence delivers waste services to 11 MOD establishments on contract.
Service improvements have been provided from contract start and the most recent innovation being the implemen-tation of a food waste service.
Each one of the establishments that produces food waste has now been provided with a dedicated food waste service. The estimated volume of food waste that will be recycled is estimated at over 200 tonnes pa.
Project Challenges:
The project challenges included ensuring that each site and each site representative was aware of how and what the food waste service provision entails and issues in regard to not contaminating the waste.The food waste is removed and treated at an anaerobic digestion facility – all 100% recycled so the importance of ensuring that each site operates to the required level is paramount.
Project Challenges continued:
Prior to the roll out of services GPT’s partner held internal events to promote the new service, whilst GPT provided bin signage and service notes for each site indicating what can go in the designated bins.The service across all sites is now in place andoperational.’

• The GPT business model utilises both a mix of regional and national service providers, maximising the use of Materials Recycling Facilities (MRFs) across the UK.
• Our business model also allows for a quick resolution to on-site issues if they arise, whilst giving flexibility to manage service providers within a sub-contract . This approach frees the client from contractual constraints on matters relating to performance.
• GPT can deliver against the KPI’s of any contract and manage the supplier base to achieve operational effectiveness on all sites within said contract.
