eConsent solution goes live

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has made a significant advance in improving and managing its patient consent process by implementing a fully-digital solution with Wellbeing Software’s eConsent.

Using complete and accurate patient information together with an extensive clinical procedure database, which includes risks and benefits, eConsent consistently captures the necessary permissions required for any surgical procedure.

Its introduction through initial pilot and staged rollout is part of the trust’s wider programme of digital technology optimisation.

As part of this wider digitisation programme, Alder Hey recently announced the implementation of Wellbeing’s document management technology, Stratus, which is being used to digitise the trust’s paper records.

The integrated clinical viewer will provide healthcare professionals with a simple intuitive interface to access complete online patient records.

Graham Ridgway, chief executive of Wellbeing Software, said: “Benefits for patients and staff alike will ensure a speedier, clear, safer and traceable consent process as well as reducing paper usage - all in all a major step forward.”

As a Global Digital Exemplar, Alder Hey is considered to be one of the most-digitally-advanced hospitals in the UK.

Also part of the recently-announced LHCRE initiative, Alder Hey is working with neighbouring trusts to develop its Share2Care programme, a regional care record across Cheshire and Merseyside, including Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria.
