Welsh TV host named as celebrity presenter for 2015 ceremony

Welsh TV presenter, Gethin Jones, will be hosting the 2015 Building Better Healthcare Awards.

To be held at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, central London on Wednesday, 4 November, the event recognises excellence in productivity, patient outcomes and the patient experience by the people, built environments and technologies that will help to define and inspire the future of our healthcare systems.

Gethin began his career presenting five series of Popty on Welsh Channel S4C from 2000-2003. He then went on to present the channel’s flagship youth magazine show called Uned 5 for two-and-a-half years from 2002.

Gethin also presented Y Briodas Fawr (the big wedding) and Jones Jones Jones at Cardiff’s Millennium Centre - in both English and Welsh - where the world record was broken for the biggest gathering of people with the same surname. In addition he presented numerous live outside broadcasts for S4C and the BBC.

While on Uned 5, he obtained a private pilots’ licence as part of a filming challenge lasting over eight months. Gethin presented Blue Peter for three-and-a-half years before leaving CBBC’s flagship show in June 2008.

Projects since have included making it to the semi finals of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2007; presenting Police Camera Action for ITV1; hosting new game show, Sell Me The Answer for Sky1; co-presenting The One Show for BBC1; playing Prince Charming in pantomime, hosting 71 Degrees North for ITV1; and appearing in the musical The Rocky Horror Show.

During the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Gethin hosted his own live radio show for Real Radio Wales; and he was a regular face on ITV1’s flagship breakfast programme, Daybreak as Features Reporter.

Building Better Healthcare editor and awards organiser, Jo Makosinski, said: “We are thrilled to have Gethin on board to host the 2015 event.
