PACS contract will improve cancer screening services across county

Insignia Medical Systems has announced a new PACS contract with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Breast Screening Service, based at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove.

The project comes as an extension to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s existing Insignia InSight PACS, which delivers radiology services across the county of Worcestershire.

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Breast Screening Service provides breast screening and assessment services across a large region including Worcester, Redditch, Kidderminster and Hereford.

The project, which is due to go live in early September, will see the migration of approximately 8.5 years-worth of data, and the addition of screening modalities located at Bromsgrove and Hereford.

The Insignia PACS will provide full desktop integration with the National Breast Screening System (NBSS) and support both screening and assessment images.

Insignia Medical Systems’ project manager, Julie Guest, said: “Bringing the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Breast Screening Service together with the rest of the trust will help provide a joined-up approach to image sharing across the trust’s multiple sites.”
