Clinical commissioning group deploys Endpoint Resilience solution from Absolute to secure 300-device estate of laptops and tablets

NHS Hillingdon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), a membership organisation of 45 general practices, has secured its entire 300 device estate of laptops and tablet computers with Absolute Endpoint Resilience solutions.

The organisation, which is responsible for commissioning health services in Hillingdon, including community health and hospital services, provides IT equipment and support for 45 health practices across the borough.

Recent investments and improvements have included purchasing laptops for clinicians and practice staff to work from home during the COVID-19 crisis, and tablet computers so that patients can complete questionnaires about the state of their health upon arrival at a GP surgery.

With the health and welfare of thousands of residents to manage, along with an increasingly-mobile workforce, NHS Hillingdon CCG needed a security solution to protect its 300-device estate.

We’re very proud to help enable complete endpoint security across the entire device estate, protecting critical data and ensuring that every single laptop or tablet computer can be frozen and wiped as required

Due to increasing security standards and compliance requirements, the CCG was looking to upgrade and improve its existing cyber security systems to ensure devices and sensitive information remain protected.

And, after a competitive review process, the organisation chose the Absolute platform, which enables full visibility into the location and status of all devices, including those that lack necessary security updates, and the ability to freeze or wipe devices if required.

With Absolute, Hillingdon CCG was able to enhance its endpoint security posture by:

  • Protecting sensitive patient data across every endpoint, in any location, with a persistent connection to all devices
  • Improving security and IT operations with fast discovery and remediation of any at-risk device
  • Responding to incidents faster with automatic location, device freezing, and deletion of data.

David Gulbrandsen, head of IT security and networks at the CCG, said: “With Absolute, our entire laptop and tablet estate is completely protected, enabling us to track, update, and wipe devices at the touch of a button.

“This means our GPs and health professionals can operate without fear of security risks and focus on treating patients and looking after those who need it most.”

Increasingly, we’re seeing ambitious CCGs and trusts within the NHS choosing our solutions to provide Endpoint Resilience and enable every member of staff to operate confidently knowing their devices, and the sensitive information contained on them, are properly secured

Andy Harcup of Absolute Software, adds: “As one of London’s leading healthcare providers, NHS Hillingdon CCG is required to move quickly, managing patient needs both inside and outside of the surgery.

“We’re very proud to help enable complete endpoint security across the entire device estate, protecting critical data and ensuring that every single laptop or tablet computer can be frozen and wiped as required.
