Improving green spaces at Coventry University Hospital

Published: 8-Aug-2011

£200,000 will be spent improving green spaces at University Hospital in Coventry following a cash boost from Natural England as part of the Access to Nature programme. Funded by a £28.75m cashpot from the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme, the project, called Outer Space, aims to encourage community members, staff and patients to use the green space at the hospital site and is being run by the Campaign for Greener Healthcare. The hospital's environmental manager, Clive Robinson, said: "This is fantastic news, not just for staff, but also our surrounding communities who we are hoping will be encouraged to use and benefit from these facilities. We are fortunate to have so much natural wildlife and green space on our doorstep and I am excited about being able to open this up for the enjoyment of more people." The fund will be released over three years.
