Technology enables trust to track and trace inventory to patient level

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) has appointed a new inventory management solution provider.

The contract will see implementation of Ingenica Solutions’ 360 IM across the entire trust to track and trace inventory to the patient level; understanding what products have been used, when, where, and on which patients.

The project supports the trust in its aim to transform supply chain and procurement efficiencies, secure long-term cost savings, and improve patient safety.

A phased implementation of the solution is due to commence immediately, which will offer full track-and-trace facility providing a 360-degree view of costs across KGH.

Tanya Lane, head of procurement, said: “We listened to the views of other trusts that already work with Ingenica Solutions, which provided us with confidence that we have selected a strong provider with a compelling track record of successful implementations and proven returns on investment.”

Ingenica Solutions’ 360 IM was the first GS1-certified inventory management solution in the healthcare market.

Damien Marmion, chief executive at Ingenica Solutions, said: “We deliver the best, most-functionality-rich solution in the NHS to help trusts improve the way in which inventory is managed and stored.

“As Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, recently acknowledged, better tracking and tracing of medical devices to the patient level is of great importance to save the NHS money and improve patient safety, and Ingenica Solutions is extremely proud to have been chosen by KGH to help the trust reach its ambitions in this area.”
