New equipment combines DOT and TIM to increase efficiency

Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre has installed a MAGNETOM Skyra 3 Tesla MRI system to increase capacity in its radiology department.

Combining Total Imaging Matrix (TIM) 4G and Day Optimising Throughput (DOT) technologies, the equipment, supplied by Siemens Healthcare, increases flexibility and accuracy and shortens image acquisition times.

It features a 70cm open bore design and has been constructed to offer improved patient comfort, with an illuminated MoodLight system to enhance the clinical environment and reduce patient anxiety levels.

“We selected the MAGNETOM Skyra after extensively comparing different systems available on the market,” said Dr Umesh Udeshi, director of radiology at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which operates the centre.

“We are now benefiting from improved image definition and increased departmental throughput. Patients have noticed the faster scanning times, staff find the system easy to use, and the image quality we receive is exceptional.”

Darren Parker, regional sales manager at Siemens Healthcare, added: “We’re delighted that staff and patients have experienced a real improvement in imaging since the installation. The system improves departmental efficiency and automates the examination process for increased productivity and staff ease of use.”
