Asteral Protect solution covers maintenance of 37 items of diagnostic imaging equipment

Asteral has announced that Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has expanded its portfolio of managed services with the addition of the managed maintenance solution, Asteral Protect.

The new three-year service for 37 items of diagnostic imaging equipment is further to the success of the seven-year managed equipment service for two CT scanners and associated equipment, which started in 2010.

The partnership between Asteral and Kingston began with the procurement, installation, and ongoing maintenance of two CT scanners at Kingston Hospital, as well as a departmental redesign to improve the patient journey.

As a vendor-independent supplier, Asteral was able to offer the trust unbiased advice on equipment selection, futureproof room designs, and significant savings by leveraging its buying power.

Asteral now manages and maintains more than 40 items of clinical imaging equipment across the radiology and cardiology departments at the Kingston, Molesey and Tolworth hospital sites.

By selecting Asteral Protect, the trust has achieved both savings and operational benefits. Asteral Protect provides detailed, vendor-neutral reporting on equipment performance, guaranteed uptimes, and a single point of contact service centre for all service requests.

Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was able to purchase Asteral Protect through the London Procurement Partnership’s Vendor Neutral Managed Service Framework; a straight-forward procurement route, and one of five national NHS frameworks that supply Asteral’s managed maintenance services.

Christopher Langley, Asteral’s chief executive, said: “We are thrilled at the award of Kingston’s maintenance contract to Asteral. The growth of our work with Kingston is testimony to the ongoing success of the CT rooms designed and installed by Asteral in 2010. We look forward to the future successes of this relationship. ”
