Constructor appointed for £5.2m scheme

Mansell has been appointed to design and construct a £5.2m community hospital in Bicester.

Commissioned by project developer and investor, Kajima Partnerships, the new facility will include a 12-bed ward with an ambulance base, first aid unit, out-of-hours clinic, and outpatient areas. It will also have imaging and physiotherapy suites, offices and a community staff base.

The contract is the second project Mansell has delivered for this customer, the first being Brentwood Community Hospital in Essex.

Richard Coe, senior development manager for Kajima Partnerships, said: “We have been delighted with Mansell’s contribution to the scheme so far and look forward to building on this success to deliver a hospital of clinical excellence.”

Mansell’s Thames Valley regional director, Jonathan Winter, added: “It’s great to have been appointed to deliver Bicester’s new community hospital. Stakeholder engagement with members of the local community has been a key part of the project to date and will continue throughout the contract period through projects such as the outdoor gym, therapy garden and two public art commissions”.

Work will commence next month.
