Community 1st Sheffield has awarded a £6.5m contract to Mansell to design and build two health centres in the city.
Foxhill Medical Centre in Fox Hill Road and Bluebell Medical Centre in Wincobank Avenue will provide integrated primary care services comprising GP surgeries, community nursing and therapy services with an on-site pharmacy included in the Foxhill project. There will also be designated space for minor surgery and community rooms for wider use.
The buildings, which have been designed in conjunction with Blue Sky Architects, will feature a number of green technologies such as combined heat and power systems, which run on used cooking oil; securing the developments a BREAAM ‘excellent’ rating.
Both projects are due for completion in January 2013.
