Partnership will bring Expenses Health solution to NHS trusts

McKesson UK has announced an agreement with Software Europe to provide Expenses Health, the leading online expenses management solution, to the NHS.

The collaboration will see two key providers to the NHS working together to further strengthen McKesson’s Shared Services’ (MSS) offering and provide further savings to the NHS. Both organisations are committed to providing high-quality products, exceptional service and continued innovation.

Both organisations are uniquely positioned to help the NHS eliminate time-consuming manual processes, drive productivity gains and realise cost savings

Previous deployments have shown Software Europe users quickly realise cost savings to their travel and expenses spend, typically between 15-20%.

McKesson Shared Services (MSS) provides award-winning outsourced HR, payroll and pensions services exclusively to the NHS. At the heart of the service is its electronic payroll suite, which fully supports the NHS QIPP initiative and can help deliver productivity improvements through back-office efficiencies, allowing valuable resources to be redeployed to the frontline. Expenses Health will become an integral part of the MSS service by joining existing electronic efficiency tools for absence and timesheet management to complete the electronic payroll suite offering.

Software Europe already provides Expenses Health to 86 NHS organisations and it has been reported that around 49% of all trusts do not have any automated system.

Neil Everatt, chief executive officer at Software Europe, said: “The partnership with McKesson recognises the experience Software Europe has gained from working with 86 NHS organisations. It is a great step to maintain our market-leading position for NHS expenses management, and to provide further business benefits within this sector. We look forward to working with McKesson and seeing the possibilities which arise.”

The trust has saved substantial amounts on mileage over a 10-month period year on year comparing the newly-implemented Expenses Health to the former paper-based system. The trust has decreased spend by a six figure sum

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has seen significant reductions through the implementation of Expenses Health. Jenny Stuckey, payroll and pensions manager, said: ‘The trust has saved substantial amounts on mileage over a 10-month period year on year comparing the newly-implemented Expenses Health to the former paper-based system. The trust has decreased spend by a six figure sum.” Mark Dolman, director of operations at McKesson Shared Services, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Software Europe to deliver McKesson’s electronic payroll suite. Both organisations are uniquely positioned to help the NHS eliminate time-consuming manual processes, drive productivity gains and realise cost savings.”
