Mental health trust improves monitoring

AVON and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has implemented the AeroScout Real-Time Location System (RTLS) to monitor staff members using its existing Wi-Fi network. "As a provider of specialised mental health services, we are focused on giving the highest quality of care while at the same time ensuring a safe environment for both our staff and patients," said Steve Batson, service manager for west of England forensic mental health services at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership. "Prior to using AeroScout, we relied on a whiteboard to manually track the whereabouts of our staff members and we had little insight into their location. Since we started using AeroScout, we have improved the safety and confidence of our staff through the ability to identify exactly where they are at any one time." On arrival, each staff member now checks in and receives an AeroScout Wi-Fi Tag that attaches to a set of keys. The tag is triggered as they pass through different hospital zones and transmits a message to the MobileView software, which then displays the location of each person in real time.
