NHS Dumfries & Galloway places six assets up for sale
Former NHS offices and clinics being sold off to fund £270m new hospital
NHS Dumfries & Galloway has put five surplus properties plus the site of the former Garrick Hospital in Stranraer up for sale.
Measuring approximately 0.61 hectares - or 1.5 acres - the former Garrick Hospital site has had previous planning permission for the development of 23 residential units.
In Dumfries, Maryfield Lodge (75sq m), Huntingdon House (311sq m) and Cameron House (205sq m) have all been placed on the market, each with potential for refurbishment or change of use.
Maryfield Lodge was previously utilised as accommodation for NHS staff, while the other sites were previously used as offices or clinics.
The two-storey Victorian Cromarty House in Stranraer has existing planning consent for change of use to residential.
19 Bank Street in Annan is a detached two-storey traditional town centre building of around 224sq m with a single-storey extension of around 91sq m to the rear. The extension is currently let to Dumfriesshire Citizens Advice Bureau. The accommodation would be suitable for a range of uses including residential, office, healthcare and residential, subject to receipt of statutory consents.
Ryden has been appointed to dispose of the sites.
NHS Dumfries & Galloway is currently building a new £270m acute district general hospital on the outskirts of Dumfries. The development is being led by High Wood Health, a consortium of Laing O’Rourke, Aberdeen UK Infrastructure Partners, Ryder Architecture and Serco.
