Study will identify carbon hotspots within the NHS supply chain

The NHS Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) is putting the finishing touches to its latest report on carbon footprinting focusing specifically on the procurement of goods and services by healthcare organisations in the UK.

Drawn up in partnership with @UK and a number of NHS trusts, the study will identify carbon hotspots within the healthcare supply chain.

It will compare the carbon contribution of 18 types of goods and services against six different NHS organisation types - strategic health authorities, primary care organisations, acute health trusts, specialist bodies, mental health trusts and ambulance services.

The report is expected to be published early next year.
