The NHS Sustainable Development Unit’s director, David Pencheon, was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
Pencheon received the accolade for his services to public health and particularly for his current work on improving sustainability in the NHS.
He said of the award: “I am obviously delighted to receive an OBE and it is a very welcome recognition of the huge efforts being made throughout the NHS and the public health system to improve patient care and public health. It is an acknowledgment of the fact that working towards a sustainable health service which is both financially and environmentally affordable is seen as essential for the long-term future of healthcare in this country.”
