State-of-the-art hospital uses pioneering technology to improve patient care

One Ashford Hospital, a new £30m private hospital developed by the One Healthcare Group, has today opened its doors to patients.

The facility, which has been funded by Octopus Healthcare, has created 90 jobs as it aims to provide the very-best level of care for local people.

Located next to the NHS William Harvey Hospital, One Ashford offers state-of-the-art, well-equipped and purpose-built hospital facilities for people looking for private healthcare.

Treatment will be offered by more than 90 of the leading consultants providing high-quality care to patients. It is the first One Healthcare hospital to be built as part of a planned UK-wide line-up of private hospitals developed by the company.

Modelling itself on innovative diagnostic and surgery centres in Australia and the US, One Ashford pioneers the use of technology to improve patient experience and outcomes. It is the first private hospital in to have a fully-electronic integrated care pathway – electronic records from referral to the completion of a patient’s treatment.

Adrian Stevensen, chief executive of One Healthcare, said: “We are very excited that One Ashford is now open and working alongside William Harvey Hospital can help care for patients in the area.

“Our objective is to provide the very best level of care for local people, delivered by leading consultants, in state-of-the-art, well-equipped and purpose-built hospital facilities.

“We are especially pleased to welcome a number of nurses and clinicians from St Saviour’s Hospital in nearby Hythe, which closed last year, who bring with them their fantastic experience while ensuring there will be familiar faces to many local patients.”

Mike Adams, chief executive of Octopus Healthcare, added: “One Healthcare is innovating and changing the way private healthcare is delivered in the UK.

“We are delighted to be backing the team to help them bring their vision to life as they look to deliver high-quality care to more people.

“There is an urgent need to reduce the burden on our NHS hospitals and One Ashford Hospital is a great example of how private investment can help to build more facilities to support the growing need for healthcare in the UK.”

The hospital’s facilities include 10 consulting rooms, three operating theatres, four treatment rooms, and a new-generation MRI scanner and radiology department. One Ashford has also invested in a unique online booking facility, whereby a patient is able to book a consultation, physiotherapy or radiology appointment online and within 90 seconds. The facility offers the ability to select by named consultant or next available appointment.
