The new site at Milton Keynes University Hospital features outpatients, procedure and specialist treatment rooms, a 24-bed inpatient ward, a chemotherapy suite and 11 clinic rooms. There are also quiet rooms, family visiting rooms, holistic support and group therapy wellbeing rooms and the Irene Crosswell Macmillan Wellbeing Lounge. All of these areas are designed to support patients and make treatment as comfortable and caring as possible. This site was also developed to bring cancer services together under one roof and reduce the number of patients having to travel to other hospitals for treatments.

The approach:
Ocura supported the scheme by providing loans of several recliner chairs for the Trust to trial. The Ocura team worked closely with clinical teams and project teams to ensure the chairs provided to the new centre were comfortable for the patients, supported the staff in giving care, and fitted in with the architect’s design.
