New diagnostic equipment to help detect breast tumours has been bought following a charitable donation to the breast care service at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has invested in a Faxitron X-ray system to better target samples for examination and speed up patient diagnosis. Dr Laxminarayan Gudur, consultant histopathologist at the trust, said: "Prompt and accurate diagnosis means we can get treatment started as soon as possible, which improves the outcomes for patients with breast tumours."
