Dako launches range that can give results in just three-and-a-half hours

Cancer detection is being speeded up with the introduction of new technology from tissue-based diagnostic specialist, Dako.

IQISH technology will help to provide a diagnosis in just a matter of hours, improving treatment potential for patients.

"Every second counts when you are waiting for test results that will indicate how your cancer can be treated most efficiently,” said Lars Holmkvist, chief executive of Dako.

“We are therefore extremely proud to introduce this new offering within our molecular pathology portfolio. It means shorter time from biopsy to possible vital treatment for cancer patients.”

HER2 IQFISH pharmDx and TOP2A IQFISH pharmDx are the first two products available using the new fast IQISH technology, which enables laboratories to identify gene status with greater accuracy.

With the IQFISH pharmDx kits, a FISH assay can be done in only three-and-a-half hours instead of two days as previously.

As an added benefit, the buffer is non-toxic, so the teratogenic risk of traditional formamide-containing FISH buffers can be avoided, providing a safer and healthier work environment for laboratory technicians.

The products are available from this month across Europe.
