Northern Ireland health board rolls out clinical noting application
Southern Health and Social Care Trust clinicians help to design new solution
A new clinical application from Aura Healthcare is being implemented in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland to minimise the time spent on medical handover and improve patient safety and governance.
Aura’s Immix Note clinical noting application gives medical staff instant access to patient admission records to inform set and rank doctors’ tasks according to clinical need and priorities. It gives clinical staff across the Southern trust, working in any of the hospital network, a shared view of the precise requirements of every patient on every ward, plus clinical to-do lists and the ability to assign tasks to teams or individual doctors or nurses. <’p>
Importantly, Immix Note provides capability for early warning score monitoring and charting with alerts and escalation procedures, so is helping meet the requirements of this national policy.
An enterprise-wide solution, Immix Note is used by around 90 clinical staff at Daisy Hill Hospital, and is currently being rolled out at Craigavon Hospital.
Southern Health has acted as development partner for Immix Note to ensure it meets demands of busy doctors and presents information in a logical fashion, helping clinicians to have the right information to ensure maximum efficiency and minimise discharge delays for patients.
“Immix Note is a fundamental component in helping us deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care and is already having a positive impact on care standards and patient safety,” said Dr John Harty, consultant nephrologist at the health board. “It allows medical staff access to a wealth of clinical information to quickly assess clinical needs and priorities, assign tasks, and easily gain access to statistical information for audit and governance reporting.
“In partnership with Aura Healthcare, we have been able to develop and implement this key solution relatively quickly and without major trauma.”
Siobhan Hanna, assistant director of informatics, added: “The successful implementation of Immix Note has been due to a range of factors. Firstly because it was designed by clinicians for clinicians it meets their needs and has therefore organically grown without any forced implementation. In addition, we have had strong clinical leadership in the rollout, which has led to ownership and adoption of this application at a very early stage.”
