Deal covers five hospitals and residential care facilities

PEL Services has been awarded the fire detection and emergency lighting maintenance contract for a number of NHS trusts in Hertfordshire.

As part of a joint venture, East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust combined to outsource the maintenance of their fire alarms, smoke damper control equipment and emergency lighting.

The deal was awarded following a formal tender process using OJEU protocol and covers planned and re-active maintenance of systems across all five hospitals covered by the trusts.

Following on from the contract, PEL Services was also recommended to Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides health and social care for both people with mental ill health and those with a learning disability. It has since won the tender for a three-year planned and re-active maintenance contract for the trust’s fire alarms, emergency lighting and extinguishers. Unusually, the contract is for weekly testing of the fire alarms in residential care sites with standard monthly emergency lighting testing.
