Pet portraits brighten up Yeovil hospital

Published: 1-Apr-2011

EQUESTRIAN and pet portraits by Yeovil artist, Christopher Carley, are brightening up the outpatients waiting area at a local hospital. The self-taught artist will be showing his oils, graphite sketches and acrylics at a temporary exhibition at Yeovil District Hospital. The animal themes are taken from his passion for thoroughbred race horses and love of pets. He said: "Mucking out at six in the morning, four rides up the gallops and the rest of the day feeding and grooming gave me a great affection to horses. I began to study the autonomy of the horse and finally I put paint to canvas. I try to capture the strength and agility of this powerful animal." The exhibition will run until 1 June and 20% of all sales will be spent on future arts and health initiatives.
