System used in new paediatric service

New paediatric services at Portland Hospital are being supported by Siemens Definition AS+ CT.

An evolution in services at the Portland Hospital in central London, from historically a women’s and maternity hospital to an institution of clinical excellence for women and children, has been supported with the installation of a Definition AS+ CT scanner from Siemens Healthcare. Siemens project management worked closely with the HCA project team and building contractors to ensure the installation was completed on time.

The Definition AS+ CT was selected due to its right dose innovations to support not only the diagnostic needs of paediatric patients, but also as a valuable post-operative imaging tool. It is being used in the areas of neurology, spinal cases and craniofacial 3D reconstruction.

Lucy Hall, imaging services manager at Portland Hospital, part of HCA, said: “We have close links with Great Ormond Street, with many of our paediatric consultants also working there and using Siemens technology. It made good sense to stay with the same imaging platform to make the most of protocol expertise.”
