Throughput at Northwick Park’s A&E department boosted by three digital radiography systems

A new Accident and Emergency Department has recently opened at Northwick Park Hospital, part of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.

The department has installed three Ysio digital radiography systems from Siemens Healthcare to help provide a 24-hour emergency service 365 days a year.

The systems are being used to treat a range of patients attending the emergency department and urgent care centre. The radiographers have commented on the systems’ ease-of-use which has aided them in working quickly and efficiently, along with excellent image quality.

The selection process included a clinical evaluation which assessed a range of features including ease-of-use, ergonomics and image quality where Siemens systems came ahead of the competition. Staff at Northwick Park have also commented on the applications training provided by Siemens which has allowed the team and department to become operational as soon as possible, and provided them added confidence in operating the systems.

Jason Chalcroft, regional sales manager at Siemens Healthcare, said: “Northwick Park has an extremely busy A&E department with a high patient throughput. The installation of three Ysio systems has helped to provide an excellent level of service to its patients by providing rapid imaging and clear images to speed up diagnosis and prevent further X-rays. The systems utilise Free Axis Simultaneous Travel (FAST) technology to ensure swift and safe positioning, also reducing the strain of heavy workload on staff within the department.”
