Capita Symonds develops new procurement model to support revamp of John Radcliffe atrium

Plans for a new £4m ‘Welcome Centre’ at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford have been approved by Oxfordshire City Council.

Designed by Capita Symonds on behalf of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, the building comprises a revamped entrance atrium with reception, waiting area, shops, café, information points, and baby changing and feeding facilities.

The existing main entrance has not been substantially updated and modified since the hospital was first built in the mid-1970s. The main reason for the proposed revamp is to make the whole experience at the entrance to the hospital more pleasant for patients, visitors and staff.

The Welcome Centre’s financial model, which has been developed by Capita Symonds, is funded through the income derived from the retail operations.
