SATO has launched a new line of safety wristbands for patient identification, which have European certification by the renowned Hohenstein Institute in Bönningheim, Germany.

The independent experts have certified the biological safety and associated skin compatibility of the SATO products, as well as their antimicrobial properties.

Clear identification is one of the core concerns in hospitals and medical care facilities in order to ensure the safety of patients and avoid costly medical blunders. SATO offers comprehensive solutions which include label printers with suitable software and scanners in addition to the wristbands.

SATO’s portfolio of patient wristbands includes versions for adults and children with either safe adhesive closure or clip closure technology, as well as versions with integrated HF-RFID tags. Extensive data can be printed on the wristbands in 2D barcode format, including the patient's name, ID code, station, bed number, allergies, incompatibilities and so on, along with text and a photo. The adhesive closure is popular because it is easy to use and economical and the wristbands with clip closure are available in three different grades. Inadvertent or unauthorised transfer to other patients is effectively prevented with both closure options.

SATO’s wristbands are made from a material that is suitable for harsh environments and has high wear resistance. It maintains high abrasion resistance even in contact with moisture, disinfectants, cleaning alcohol and hand disinfectants, and at high temperatures. At the same time, the especially soft and lightweight material and the rounded edges ensure they are comfortable to wear while providing a high level of safety, since the design protects against lacerations and pressure points. The wristbands are also latex-free and feature an antibacterial coating.

Users can also choose from a new soft-type version which is especially suitable for patients with sensitive skin and children, and is available in various colours - blue, pink, green and yellow. The product line is completed by special wristbands for new-borns and infants, which have flat printed surfaces to prevent reading errors.
