SMART system deployed at Royal Free Hampstead

Published: 19-Aug-2011

SMART has supplied its bank, e-Rostering and time and attendance solution to the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust. The bank management system has already been implemented and when combined with new working processes is on target to save the trust in excess of £5m a year on agency fees. The organisation is now rolling out e-Rostering and time and attendance to all departments with the exclusion of consultants. Staff will now use hand readers to clock in and out. The deployments are part of a broader HR project to transform working practices of the trust. Jasvier Boyal, director of workforce at the trust, said: "We are already seeing a substantial return on our investment and the feedback we have had from managers and staff alike has been very positive." Tristan Spencer, health market director at SMART, added: "As the NHS faces challenges to dramatically reduce costs while maintaining and improving patient care, using existing resources in the most efficient way is paramount. The Royal Free has demonstrated that a fully integrated workforce management system delivers benefits on many different levels, ensuring that the trust is the in best possible position to develop new services and new ways of working to meet the resource challenges in the years ahead."
