Raigmore Hospital theatres failing to meet health and fire standards, managers warned

Raigmore Hospital in Scotland has come under the spotlight after the NHS Highland health board was told the building’s nine theatres are failing to meet health or fire standards.

The theatres are 25 years old and a report to the board urges it to apply for funding from the Scottish Government to upgrade them. Action to address the problem is supported by MSP Rhoda Grant.

The report states that a lack of refurbishment means the facilities have been falling behind in terms of infection control due to the current layout and furnishings. The board also hopes to improve critical patient care facilities with the main hospital tower block.
