Organisation becomes first health trust in UK to deploy solution

Portsmouth NHS Hospitals Trust is to become one of the first organisations in the UK to deploy an inventory management solution across the organisation.

In line with the Government’s drive to improve efficiency, the trust commissioned Smart Use to implement the system, firstly in the theatres store and cardiology department, before rolling it out across the whole organisation.

In theatres alone the benefits have included balance sheet savings of more than £1.78m.

Alan Hoskins, director of procurement and commercial services at Solent Supplies Team, said: “We selected Smart Use to implement our inventory management solution and to date the project has been a huge success and we are looking forward to realising the final benefits of a trust-wide solution.”

Nicola Hall, managing director at Smart Use, added: “The trust's forwardthinking approach to supply chain management means that it is now leading the field and we believe it is the first trust in the UK to adopt a trustwide solution."
