UK Education Centre boosts ultrasound education and training

SonoSite continues to lead the way in ultrasound education and training, having opened a new UK Education Centre at Great Marlings, Luton.

The purpose-designed training facility boasts a comfortable lecture theatre and superbly-equipped training rooms, allowing delegates to gain valuable ultrasound experience using the most up-to-date equipment.

SonoSite has built a faculty of renowned specialists, each with many years experience of using ultrasound in their respective disciplines, and has developed a wide range of courses suitable both for participants with limited use of ultrasound in their daily practice and existing users wishing to further develop their skill set.

Courses cover a broad range of disciplines, including anaesthesia, critical care, emergency medicine, interventional procedures, musculoskeletal applications, and visual medicine workshops. Practical demonstrations, with images projected onto overhead display screens to ensure excellent visibility for all delegates, are supplemented by hands-on practice sessions, providing the perfect opportunity for participants to discover the potential of point-of-care ultrasound for themselves.

The inaugural course, Ultrasound Guided Venous Access, was held on the October 10. Course director, Professor Richard McWilliams, consultant interventional radiologist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, said: “It was a great pleasure to be course director for the opening session at the new education centre. The centre is very bright and welcoming, and well equipped with the latest ultrasound systems and imaging phantoms, providing a good environment for teaching and imparting technical skills to course participants.”
