ACUSON P300 from Siemens Healthcare being used across two operating theatres

Spire Elland Hospital, part of the Spire Healthcare Group, has recently installed an ACUSON P300 from Siemens Healthcare for use across its two operating theatres.

The portable system was compared to a range of other solutions and was chosen for its excellent image quality and ease of use. The hospital is now able to offer endovenous and central venous patient services that were previously unavailable.

Operating department staff say the ACUSON P300 is benefitting patient comfort and leading to faster recovery times in comparison to previous methods. As a result, patient turnover has increased at the 40-bed hospital.

The P300 offers high image quality for both routine and specialty applications and has 13 multi-frequency transducers including specialty laparoscopic and intra-operative probes for interventional procedures. The system provides advanced image optimisation tools such as panoramic imaging, speckle reduction and spatial compounding, which optimise imaging data automatically, thus improving diagnostic confidence and supporting clinical workflow.

“We are delighted to expand the services available to patients to include endovenous and central venous procedures due to the installation of an ACUSON P300,” said Michael Carson, operating department practitioner.

“Previously we would use a nerve stimulator, which could be uncomfortable for the patient and was not always 100% accurate. The P300 is aiding ease-of-procedures for staff and quicker recovery for patients.”
