Wide range of health services available under one roof

Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust (LCH) has opened a new, state-of-the-art health centre for residents, commuters and visitors to the city.

Known as The BEAT, the centre will enable the trust to provide a wider range of services in one centralised location designed specially to deliver modern healthcare services to the city region’s residents.

A number of the trust’s city health services have relocated to the centre including Merseyside’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre, SAFE Place, which provides a vital service to victims of sexual assault. Other services include Abacus Sexual Health Service, which will provide patients with a new online self-booking system for appointments; Liverpool’s City Walk-In Centre; and The Armistead Centre, a specialist lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health service.

The BEAT also includes a brand new, interactive health information centre, providing members of the public with drop-in access to free, professional information and advice on a wide range of healthy living issues, such as stopping smoking, health eating and getting active.

Gary Andrews, deputy chief executive at Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, said: “We are committed to providing high-quality health facilities in the heart of the community for our patients and the best working environments for our staff. Relocating a number of our city centre services into The BEAT closely supports this aim and will also provide people with easier access to a much wider range of health services all conveniently located under one roof.

“Conveniently based in the heart of the city centre, our hope is that this modern and, friendly facility will better serve the growing number of people who live or work in our city centre, and create a lasting legacy of improved health for our communities for many years to come.”
