Contract renewed for 10 years following competitive procurement exercise

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) has renewed its Radiology Information System (RIS) contract with Wellbeing Software for a further 10 years following a competitive procurement exercise.

Wellbeing Software’s RIS Cris provides an intuitive platform to help manage the information that keeps radiology departments running smoothly.

As the most widely-used RIS in the UK, deployed at over 700 locations and generating 25 million imaging events a year, Cris covers all departmental workflows from patient check-in through order comms to GP and patient feedback.

In addition, the trust will deploy the Mobile Cris module to make the radiographer’s job easier and faster by using full paperless workflows on the move.

And Wellbeing is also providing UHB with the DoseMonitor solution to manage radiation dosage, while the Cris Communicator module will enable the trust to notify referring clinicians of critical findings in compliance with radiology reporting guidelines.

This contract, which is Wellbeing’s 12th radiology contract renewal of 2019, is an extension of two previous agreements with University Hospitals Birmingham and Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust which merged in April 2018 to create one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England.

With 2,700 beds across four main hospitals, the trust’s teams treat more than 2.2 million people a year and perform more than 1.1 million radiology examinations.

Graham Ridgway, chife executive of Wellbeing Software, said: “UHB serves as a major regional centre for a range of conditions and, as such, it is imperative that their services run without delay or disruption.

“The decision to renew the contract with us builds on the successful partnership we have enjoyed for a number of years. Working together, we can ensure continuity of care for patients and future interoperability with other departments and sites within the trust.”
