The operator of the world’s-largest fleet of mobile healthcare facilities, Vanguard Healthcare, has appointed a senior NHS figure to the newly-established role of business development director.
Steven Peak, who was appointed to the role in April, has more than 25 years experience working in the acute hospital sector. He has worked in the NHS since 1989, having held board-level roles at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust, Birmingham Women’s Hospital Foundation Trust, and The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust. He is also currently a non-executive director for Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
Among the wealth of NHS-centred experience he will bring to the company is the knowledge of creating efficiency within clinical services. During his time in the NHS, he was part of, or directly led, a number of major clinical service reconfiguration projects at large acute hospitals.
He said: "Having worked to improve the efficiency of services at a number of trusts around the country, I immediately saw the benefit that Vanguard’s mobile healthcare facilities could offer to the NHS.
"It is generally accepted that there is a national need to improve access to services across the board and to be able to meet other capacity challenges when they arise. Having this kind of strategic flexible capacity at your fingertips can help healthcare providers of all sizes do just that."
As business development director, Peak will focus on identifying and building longer-term delivery partnerships as well as leading Vanguard’s pioneering community-based healthcare projects.
