Welsh health board establishes new building framework

Consultancy deal will help ensure value for money and cost certainty

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (SSP) is establishing a new framework for building consultants.

Working on behalf of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, SSP is looking for framework partners in three areas; Design Team (architect/lead consultant, M&E and structural engineer); Quantity Surveyor/cost consultant; and CDM co-ordinator.

The move is designed to be a partnership arrangement between the health board and each consultant. The board will appoint a single consultant for each lot.

The initial contract will be for two years, with two possible extensions each of 12 months and should provide the health board with among, other things, value for money, certainty of cost and a consistent approach to projects over the life of the deal.

It is anticipated the framework will commence during May.
